Army Tribute

My name is Tino "Chui" Banuelos. I served with Lenny in the US Army Security Agency from 66-69 (Vietnam)

Lenny was more than a friend to those who knew him. I had the honor of serving with Lenny and he greatly influenced my life.

I would like to share with you some information which you may not know.

We have a group of over 300 ASA Veterans who are linked through a website and email list. Many on the list served with Lenny.

Here are some webpages which you are invited to visit to learn more about Lenny and those he served with.

Here is a link showing photos of Ft. Devens in Mass. where Lenny attended the Army Security Agency Training Center. Prior to attending classes at the Center, Lenny received a Top Secret/Crypto security clearance. There are photos of his classmates and a listing of other members of his class. 4 of us in the class volunteered for Vietnam and were assigned to the 7th RRU just outside of Saigon, Vietnam. 3 of us ended up together while Jim Kubala (also from the Cleveland area) ended up out in the boonies (more details on the webpage) Lenny, Brad Williams (the Brad Lenny named his son after) and I were together for about 3 months in Saigon and then began going TDY (temporary duty) to various other locations in Vietnam. In the Fall of 66 we were sent to separate parts of the country to serve in specified areas. Lenny was in the 3rd platoon at Bien Hoa, Brad was in the 4th at Can Tho (in the delta) and I was in the 2nd up at Pleiku (central highlands).

Memories

Lenny, Brad and I were still at the Saigon base (Davis Station) when we experienced our baptism under fire. (mortar attack)
